Importing Data
 

Hope someone can help.

Had to do a fresh install of 3.6.8 onto a new server - though my main site is running 3.5.3 on an older server.

Tried migrating but went tits up hence the fresh install.

The question I have, is, is it possible to import the users table from 3.5.3 to 3.6.8 ? What's the best method to get the 10000 users over to the new install ?

what problem did you have to simple move the board to the new server?

Inherited "rubbish" from the previous site admin.

He thought he "knew" what he was doing, but it ended up in a majorly hacked board 0- hacks done by himself I hasten to add.

Not worth trying to decode what was done to be honest.

I strongly suggest to just move the site to the new server and do some cleaning up.

An alternative would be to use ImpEx, but that will renumber all threads etc, leaving old links to threads useless.

Where would I find ImpEx ?

All I really need is the user table & avatar table to be honest.

Am I correct that I upload ImpEx to my NEW server, install it after changing the config file to reflect Source database information, then run the import choosing only the 2 table above ?

The reason I only need the two tables - is so that my members do not need to register on the new server/install.
