Copyright CD's?
 

I have a cd I wanted to transfer to my kids MP4 and it wont let me.. it transfers blank. To my puter, everywhere. Im assuming its because its encrypted.. Is there a way to get them on MP4?

WTHeck... I payed 20 bucks for this CD and I should be able to put it on a portable!!! :mad:

did you try with iTunes?!... what is your software, because some are older and does not detect the anti-thiefs system...

I just used drag and drop. Like I always have. Both from the cd to the puter then from the puter to the mp4. Its just an IQsound MP4, not an Ipod.

Itunes? I mean I know what it is, but what would I need that for if I already bought the cd? Its a Christian rap CD for my 11 yr old. Zomba records.

iTunes is not only a online store, its a complete music manager.. it would import your CD in the best format possible, in mp3 or others...

when you drag&drop your songs directly from a cd, they are not in mp3 but in .wav, a format 10 times bigger than mp3.. that take place...

Zomba is owned by Sony Music BMG so the disc is encrypted.

like i said, you will have to find an old CD importer, like 3 years old, so the software is not blocked by the security lock...

or find some pirate friend who can do it.. lol

NOTE: here i'm not against the law suggesting to find the guy to break the copyright, i'm not doing it, so i'm not in the illegal act!

i use 'adobe audition' to covert all wma to mp3 or whatever extension you chose.Then i ported over to my ipod or whatever you have its very effective and it don't matter what cd's you have if its encrypted or not. I have well over 30 gigs of music that i converted from my cd's collection to my ipod.
'So go over to adobe web site and buy the program.

I prefer Pryo myself, but iTunes will convert the files to mp4.


With CD's it doesn't matter. The Audio Home Recording Act (1992) allows backing up/burning of commercial CD's. There are two major stipulations, however: 1) A digital audio recording device must be used and 2) Audio CD's, which cost more due to royalty fees, must be used. Sorry computers, your CD/DVD recorders do not count. That is if you're copying CD to CD.

As for CD to mp3 or mp4 the AHRA doesn't seem to care as long as the recordings are for personal use.
