User Groups External Links

Happy New Year All

I have searched but to no avail, I am looking for a mod / hack / way to control whether or not a user is able to post links based on usergroups.

I have written an external registration system / usergroup management that is integrated into the rest of my site, but I am not familliar enough with VB to attempt this.

Anyone have any thoughts, links or suggestions or just point me in the general direction?
