Mailing all users of big forums... [Nightmare]

Hi guys,

I have serious issue when I think about mailing my all users over 800K it's come a bad dream  when I start using mailing function of vBulletin admincp...

Could you please give me some advices or recommend any reliable third party solution to solve this significant matter.

Thank you,

Turn on the locking function in VB that should help.

If you are going to email 800K members, then please take a moment to read my post about anti-spam policies. See my signature.

Thanks for the informative thread about mass mail guidelines.. Definitely something we all should be familiar with.

As far as dealing with large mailing lists... We have over 135k members in one of our forums and it definitely is a nightmare to email them.. Here are some of the work-arounds I have used.. Keep in mind a lot matters on what server(s) you have and what they can handle..

When I do mass-mailing I will almost always do it very late at night or early in the morning.. You can also shut down your forums to reduce loads..

Limit who you are emailing by selecting (example) only those members who have been active in say, the last year.. There are a lot of variables you can chose to minimize things.. My primary forum has been around for over 6 years now and there is no need to email people who haven't been active or visited in the last 4 years, etc..

Purchase and use a dedicated mail server.. I've you have a really large and active site, you probably are going to be sending out a lot of email due to subscription notifications, etc.. Having a dedicated server will ensure that the loads won't hurt your forum activity..

Use a third party mass-mail service.. You can export your email list out of vBulletin and do this.. Be careful who you use though.. I'm sure there are some out there that would love to get their hands on your email list..

Just a few thoughts..
David

I use SendMail Studio to send out email newsletters and other non-vbulletin stuff. It is lightning fast, easily processing about 5000 emails a minute. You could definitely use it to send half a million emails in the wee hours of the morning. Plus, it has excellent tracking stats, 1-click unsubscribe, templating, and other things you would enjoy.

can you share the link for sendmail studio?

Here's SendStudio. It's $279 for a license, but well worth it IMHO if you are going to do any consistent mailing. It's certainly a lot cheaper than any other outsourced service.
