can vB do this?
I am shopping forums and have some questions. I was directed here by the com site.
The forum I will be setting up requires strict control of new user registration. Is there a way to generate unique one-use registration keys/codes? Even better if the unique code is associated with a specific email address. Either that or is there a way to restrict registration to a list of email addresses? Thanks, Pancake |
Not ure what you mean with the unique codes to be generated, but restricting the allowed email addresses is an easy task.

The best thing u could do is just moderate new members.

I think he is asking for the invite system things , or something like this so only the selected persons can join the board. If yes , then there is a invite system hack in vb mods , you can use it

Sorry, it looks like I left out a sentence or two.
Yes, I am looking for an invite system where the admin could be certain only specific users sign up. One way to do this is to have unique one-use codes that must be entered on registration. Another way would be have the forum only accept registrations from a list of known email addresses (which are then verified during sign in). I realize you could just moderate new members to manually verify their email address but I am hoping there is another way that is a little more automated. Happy new year! Pancake |
Both methods you mentioned are achievable. The first one, however, I believe there is already a modification made.

I think you mean like a your user has to confirm the account via e-mail with a code of some sort? Like this... https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=162642
