Comcast vs Bell South

I have recently moved and I want to know anyone here use comcast or bell south? Please tell me your horror and true stories of each provider.

Comcast Speeds:
Stop crawling the web and start burning rubber with scorching speeds up to 4 times faster than 1.5 Mbps DSL, up to 7 times faster than 768 Kbps DSL, and up to 100 times faster than 56 Kbps dial-up! You’ll get free tools like McAfee® security software to keep all your info and computer safe. And with Comcast.net, you’ll get amazing free content and features like The Fan™ Video Player, your one-stop source for the best online video.

Bell South:
6 Mbps/512 Kbps
Maximum Downstream/Upstream

This one time I had comcast but they brunt so much rubber off of my tires, they became smooth and treadles, sending me careening into a family of six's minivan. I hit them head on.

Many 1's and 0's were nulled that day. :(

Comcast blows. My dad has it, and nothing but problems on his end. But now it is Time Warner.

Where do you live? These things depend a lot on your location.... An ISP may be awful in one place and the best choice in another.

My mother has Comcast (in Jacksonville, FL) and she's never had a problem with it as far as I know. I was down there for a week and used it as my "life line" and I didn't have a problem with them either.

My comcast kicks butt

And the free McAfee is a bonus as well, contrary to what the other poster mentioned, it's a great program.

I live in North Alabama. So should I go with Comcast?

Don't they limit you on bandwidth per month?

Or "BLOCK" certain websites like bittorrents?

Comcast's customer service is the worst.
Our company dealt with them in Maryland when I lived there and now in South Carolina I hear they are good once they finally set it up right.
Same crappy customer service.
I'd stay away from them at all costs.

I've been happy with ADSL with AT&T/ BellSouth in SC. Customer service has been excellent.
I only needed to call them once to have my username changed and it was my fault that it was incorrect.
I only wish we were wired for FiOS.

Disclaimer: I'm behind a dial-in modem most of the time.

I used the connection to it's fullest extent while I was down there for about four solid days. I did not have an issue using torrents even with multiple ones going at the same time.

I don't know if they have a monthly cap but if they do I'm sure it's of the "invisible" variety. In that situation they usually don't bring it up unless you're using all the bandwidth they give you all of the time. IMHO there is no reason to keep things "loaded up" like that....give the P2P program a break every now and again for the good of everyone using the same network as you are.

You should ask people in your local area to find out which one is the "best". www.dslreports.com has a good message board where you can probably get some advice from local people. They also have plenty of users reviews for both providers.

Hopefully you're in a situation where you can get both cable and DSL. Many of us are still stuck with no choice. :(
