Limit amount of emails sent from forums

My new hosting company states I can only send 200 emails an hour. How can I configure the board to not go over this 200 emails an hour?

There is an option to limit the amount of emails sent per batch but I am not sure how many batches are sent out per hour.

That is fine for people sending emails to each other. But what about the tons of emails coming from the site when people respond to posts, PM, etc.

I think that batch thing will come in handy unless there is a way to limit emails being sent per hour.

Just tried it again, first 200 emails went out fine, after that, they are all kicked back to me. Any way to get around this. They are telling me the only was is to upgrade to a dedicated server which as this time I do not need to do other then this feature. Can anyone help me? The hosting company said to use phplist but I do not think that will work with vB.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm guessing you're using HostGator? I found the Cron based e-mail queuing and sending mod but it only works on the mass emails sent out through the Admin CP. Not sure I'll ever send out another mass email after what happened today!

Hostgator like a lot of host services are now controling the amount of mail sent because of spam... dedicated server would do it, but as Soliloquy told, the mod is good for that... you just have to set it the same way your host set the mail limits.

Meh, I just got into trouble too. I installed that mod but I am not sure where exactly to edit the settings, I'll have to ask there.

Someone else did tell me there is a way to change "x emails per Y minutes" somewhere in the real vB settings, is that true?

Thank you very much, looks promising. I will give it a shot and see how it turns out. It looks like it works on subscription emails, PM emails and mass emails correct?
