Help with a notification problem.

Hey, :)

I wonder if anyone could help me with a, perhaps, unusual problem we have.

We run a small but growing NASCAR forum which generates around 300 posts a day. However, most of these posts are within one or two 'chat' type threads. Members have expressed an interest (read 'need') to be notified of only posts that are direct replies to posts they have actually made rather than a notification each time a post is made, generally.

We're wondering whether some kind of hack is possible that would produce these results by way of an email or even if a simple forum search could be configured.

We can handle following instructions and making template edits if anyone would be kind enough to lend a hand or offer some advice with this.

Thanks for reading!

I don't think I understand fully what your asking... You want an e-mail notification of post made in a specific forum?

Thanks for answering, Nick.

No, for a thread but it has to be tailored to each member. There are hundreds of posts a day in two different threads. Members want to be notified or be able to find, easily, replies that are directed to them personally - i.e. when someone has hit the 'reply with quote' button and answered one of their posts. (As I have with this one - the idea being that you would get an email telling you that someone has responded to your post rather than each time anyone adds a post to this thread generally). Does that make it any clearer?

Thanks again to you and anyone else that may be able to assist with this.

That's better, but I have not heard of anything like that, I'm sure it's possible though. I'll look around.

I have searched and searched but have found nothing that can help me with this. A li'l bump on the off chance that a new set of eyes may be able to cast some light on this problem and point us in the right direction. Please, pretty please. You would help make a lot of very nice people very, very happy.

Compliments of the season to all.
