Allow users to change names or not?
 

Hi,

Do you allow users to change their names on your board?

If so......
.. what effect does changing names have on the board from a technical sense.
IE Does the board have to be re-indexed if the person has a lot of posts?

If you don't allow it ...................

..Why not?

I ask this because we get people that want to change their names all the time. I thought someone told me if they have a fair amount of posts you have to re-build the indexes for the search feature to operate correctly?

Changing a username is a simple edit in there options through the ACP. And at this point I do not allow it. It becomes to much of a hassle for me as an admin. The only time I did when was I used vBPlaza, but that hack is no more.

My visitors LOVED it when it was part of vBPlaza.

Changing names never resulted in problems.
