your daily randomness: going out to eat

If you went out to eat right now, where would you go and what would you get?

I really wish we had a cracker barrel around here because that's what I really want :( but I'd probably settle for going to On The Border and getting one of their house salads with ranch. I really love their ranch dressing and the little crispy tortilla chips they put on top  :p

Since it is 8:30 in the morning. I would probably go to Bianca's Cafe which is about 3 blocks away. I can walk there and get one of their fresh baked cinnamon rolls and a cup of coffee and be home before 9:00.

I have never been to "On The Border". They did open one up in the next city over a few months ago but haven't been there yet. There are several family-owned tex-mex places closer so that is where we go to eat. Most of the places we eat at are locally owned. Though my parents are taking me out to Johnny Carrino's next week for my birthday.

Two of my favorites are:
Katz-N Jammers - 50's era diner with a good vegetarian omelette.
Green House Cafe - California style pastas and sandwiches.
Whole Wheatery - Organic Foods and Bakery.
Lemon Tree Cafe - Light fare, organic menu
Mahli's - Indian Cuisine
Mythos - Greek Cuisine
Great Wall - Chinese Cuisine

Thank you to whoever moved this for me! I posted before getting my coffee this morning :p

Are you in San Diego?

We had a Johnny Carrino's in Jax, Fl when I lived there and it was truly amazing food. Much better than Olive Garden, IMO. Their marinara is kind of zesty and spicy, so it has a good kick to it. I haven't eaten there in years though and now I'm craving it, thanks to you. :D

My husband recently found a little locally owned texmex place down by the base where he works. He said the prices were INSANELY low (like $3 for a burrito the size of your arm  ) and it was some of the best mexican food he's ever eaten. So, we're planning to try that together on one of his days off.

About the time I finally find some decent places around here, we'll be moving to New Orleans and I'll have to start all over. I'm really hoping I can find a cracker barrel down there though.

No.. I am in the Antelope Valley which is about 60 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. In military terms I live between Air Force Plant 42 and Edwards AFB. The China Lake Naval Weapons Test Facility and Fort Irwin aren't too far away either.

No, vegetarian places in Vegas? That is a shame because I was hoping to take a weekend over that way next year and I don't eat meat at restaurants. Only eat the organic locally grown meats that my friends raise for me.

If anyone could tell me a good diet I would love to receive PM's telling me a really good way to loose weight quickly. I run for 1 hour ever night just want to know if there are any quicker things to do.

I would love to go to Olive Garden haven't been there in 4 years. :(

If you need to drop weight very quickly, low carb is the way to go. Cutting your carbs WAY back and eliminating sugars (even a lot of natural sugars from things like fruit) and eating very lean, high protein meals like fish and veggies will help you cut weight FAST. However, I'm not really a fan of low carb diets because I find that I fall off the wagon quickly from feeling deprived of things I like. So, I've followed weight watchers and had great success with it. It's basically just an easy way to eat smaller portions, low fat and low calories, while still giving yourself some treats that you like.

If you cut the carbs and sugars, your body will not be using carbs as energy, it will be using your stored fat for energy, thus helping you lose quickly. I still can't do it and stick with it though b/c I'm addicted to bread and pasta :p Why do you need to lose so quickly?

My mom used to work there a long long time ago, when I was little. I remember loving all of their appetizers :D
