Forum was hacked
Hey, one of my admins seems to have had his account hacked and they have pruned all threads and posts, deleted all the bans and more.
My admin is hugely confused as to how they got his pass as he hasn't recieved any suspicious emails, has done virus scans, hasn't accepted any files yet seems to have had his account abused. There was though, a 'threadrate' database error at the same time, wether this had anything to do with it I'm not sure. I forgot to backup the forum this weekend so our latest backup is 11/11/07. Is there no way at all to unprune threads or something, or will I just have to restore this backup? :( Thanks in advance for any help! |
If they are gone from the db they are gone. You should back up daily; I backup 3 times a day.
Admin passwords need to be strong, a common reason for hacking through the p/w is a weak p/w. Bob |
also, you do not need to start another thread for the exact same reason of the first one.. this is not correct...
and you already had answers in the other thread as well. |
