Display Forum and Threads Only Hack

Hello

I am running vb and will be using it to manage community discussions for several courses. I don't want to keep each discussion on each course discreet. I dont want users to see all of the other courses and discussions

What I would like is to be able to click on a link and launch the specific forum only, with the threads, and a search within the forum, and post a new thread in that forum only.and have that be the only way a user can access the information. We already have a way to authenticate each user.

Any suggestions about existing hacks or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Dave

Sounds like you are trying to create multiple boards using a single license.

Marco

Thanks for the update. I'm new to Vb, so excuse my ignorance. If I have to have a separate board for each client, that is fine, since they will be paying for the license.

What I really need to to be able to show a course on a web page, and then when you click on a link, only the forum assigned to that course comes up, with only the forum, list of threads, post new, reply and search within that forum. THanks for the assistance!

Create a usergroup for each customer and assign the correct permissions to those forums you want them to have access to.

you can learn more about forum and usergroup permissions via the vbulletin manual:
Usergroups and Permissions

Thanks for the information...looks like it will work.

Is there a way to set the usergroup permissions for the category only and have each forum underneath it inherit the same permissions? This way , as I add new forums, then I dont need to manually set the permissions one by one for each?

Thanks!

Yes, this is how the permissions work on vB unless you override them at a lower level in the forum tree.
