No Posting Rules

At my forum, I hated the white space that was left when the Posting Rules Box was present:

Now, it looks like this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/11/19.jpg

As you can see, it looks a lot cleaner, and minimizes the space between the forum jump and "Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread".

Me, I never look at the Posting Rules box. So this was effective.

How do I do this?

It's simple.

Admin CP >> Styles and Templates >> Style Manager

In the "All Style Options" box, select "Edit Templates".

Scroll down until you see the template "forumrules".

Once you enter the template, erase everything in it, then click "Save."

Your threads will now look like this:

If you do not like the effects of this template edit, they're simple to undo.

Admin CP >> Styles and Templates >> Style Manager

In the "All Style Options" box, select "Edit Templates".

Scroll down until you see the template "forumrules".

Click on it once, then click "Revert" in the "Controls" box.

Exactly, who does read those rules anyway :)

Thanks for the idea! I just deleted mine....

If you dont want to remove forum rules from every page, you need to get into your templates (FORUMDISPLAY, SHOWTHREAD, etc...) and remove the $forumrules variable.

Cheers.

Thanks, valdet. :)

Edit: It seems to disappear on the forums regardless if I delete that variable or not.

Well you have probably cleared the forumrules template as the original coder suggested. Thats most likely why Forum Rules are not showing up at all for you.

You can Search in Templates for $forumrules and you decide where do you want to leave and where to remove the forum rules block.

I personally removed them from FORUMDISPLAY and SHOWTHREAD, but I still have the rules show up on newpoll, newreply, newpm and few other templates.

I would also suggest to disable the Forum Jump menu from vb Admin Panel to make the bottom of your pages look better.

I hope this clears it up.

Regards,
Val.
