Is there an alternitive registration email mod?

I am just woundering because to cut down on spam I want to make it so that if you dont confirm your email you wont have access to anything (I can do this in usergroups easy) but my emails don't work so when people register and then open the e-mail and click the link they find out its broken.

Any help would be greatley apreciated

Oh and also if you have any more mods you like to stop spamming you can post them.

Email confirmation is a standard mechanism in vBulletin, that probably the vast majority of owners use. So it may be prudent to find out why your emails are 'broken' and fix that, rather than attempting to patch it with something else. Can you explain further about this?

Re Anti-Spam: The forum I co-admin on uses email confirmation and the moderation queue to vet new registered users. Nor do we allow guest posting without image varification AND each guest post goes to the moderation queue also. Spam? Nope, don't get any.

Yes, ok. That wasn't quite what I meant. Let me be a bit more explicit.
  • What does the URL look like in your automated emails?
  • Is the URL in the Email split on more than one line?
  • Does the URL actually match the URL of your forum?

When you say "the link is dead", this would imply that the URL in the email is incorrect, or split. What error message do your users get from their browser?

jambo310 11-20-2007 05:30 PM

The requested URL /register.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thats what it says but I do have the register.php in my forum root directory

Fine. The error message implies that the URL is wrong. So, once more I will ask:-

Ok, let's make this just a little simpler.

If your forum is public, please give me the url so I can sign up to it. If you do not wish to post the site address here, please Private Message it to me. I will sign up, and test it. OK?

jambo310 11-20-2007 05:56 PM
