Colors or images for faster loading
 

I am thinking of removing the default vbulletin image for the blue header bar in the forums and using just a color tag.

Will using an HTML color tag, instead of the blue image help speed up the loading of the forums? Right now I have a VPS, with 512 megs of memory. I am hitting the max connections allowed for root. By changing to a color instead of an image, I can save loading @18 blue bars when the home page loads.

max connections allowed for root?

what program might that be, mysql?

if your on a vps, edit the my.cnf file and raise the max_connection setting to a higher number & restart mysql.

removing the images will require less resources by apache to load the page, but that will not affect the above issue of max_connections.
