I am looking for good hosting companies offering managed dedicated server monitored and checked for proper security. For a big board

I think www.liquidweb.com could probably meet your needs. I'm very happy with them!

Another you could probably try is www.hostgator.com though I don't have any personal experience with them. Have heard good things though.

Recently, I've also seen good posts about www.softlayer.com

What about JaguarPC? Are they good for big boards?

I spoke with softlayer last night, they don't offer managed servers, got to get that from a 3rd party

your best luck would be to hire a webmaster who will administer your forum and your server as well... because even with managed hostings, they are not doing the vbulletin part...

hostmonster would my choice, their customer service is fantastic ( i host with 3 other companies). Example: last month i was uploading vbulletin and i messed up my database and they do backups for us FREE and they do backups monthly and weekly. i wrote some reviews about them one of my test sites here.
