If I am not hosting the site...

I have a forum, and I haver partnered up with someone else with it. He is hosting the site, and it is vB. There are a lot of mods that I want to install, since he hasnt been able to recently because he has been busy. A good portion of these mods have it so that you have to upload it to a directory.(FTP) I downloaded an FTP manager, and am having trouble with it. My question is, is it possible for me to be able to add these files any other way, or what do I have to do to get it to work the way I have it. Can I access his directory? Can I get around uploading these to the directory? Any help will really be appreciated.

FTP is a pretty easy way to upload files. What FTP manager are you using? I use Core FTP Lite. Its the first one I've used, basic, and does its job. You could upload files via cpanel (if thats what your host uses), but thats more complicated. FTP really isn't that hard. Make sure you read the instructions and follow them carefully. What exactly are you having trouble with?

It is just FreeFTPManager.

Maybe your connection is wrong.

I recommend FileZilla, search it on download.com

I think it is because I dont have the previous files in it for the forum, so I cant overright them. How do I get the files that need to be overwritten into the directory.

Download them?

Can you actually connect at all via ftp? I just ask because I know I have to connect via sftp or I get an error. If you are actually connecting and the problem is only being able to upload the files, perhaps the username you are connecting with does not have permissions to put an files in that particular directory.

I don't understand why people use FTP managers. I use internet explorer, and it works almost like any other folders you have on your computer.
