Question about the vbulletin agreement

Ok, so I have my regular forum, am I able to create another board without paying, as a test forum for Addons, styles, etc.?

Khalid-B 11-06-2007 05:41 AM

yes you can do a test forum with same software but be sure this is only a test forum .

.htaccess password protect your test forum. It should not be publicly accessible.

From the License Agreement

Quote:

If you have a valid Software license, you may set up an additional test forum in order to test code, template and database modifications. To make this clear to us and our license verification procedures, place it in a directory called 'testvb' and be sure to password protect it. It must not be accessible by the general public.

Strictly speaking, you should use testvb - but as long as it's not accessible to the public, I'm not sure if they will worry too much about the path name.

chrisdaman77 11-06-2007 10:36 PM

I am wanting to do this as well but, how do I hide from the public with a password protect?

chrisdaman77 11-10-2007 10:28 AM

Ok let me ask it this way seeing as though I missed the .htaccess post (I know I am going blind:) ). I have a couple other domain names, and I noticed in the vb software you can restrict new sign ups, is this a way that can be used to run a test site? Noone would be able to enter or register the site I would make all the test forums not accessible to visitors and so on.
