adding total weight lost function to homepage

I've added a field defined as userfield5 that is a 3 number entry field that allows a user to enter their total weight lost on their profile.

What i'd like to do is display this on the homepage of my forums (a sum of all members weight lost to date)

Not sure how to do it or if i need to add any php to the index.php
