How to allow members only to download from one thread, and everyone in other threads

I'd like to allow downloading of attachments to everyone, but I have a need to disallow downloads to unregistered members in one particular thead.

I'm trying to avoid having to create a new forum just for this purpose.

Is this at all possible?

Tnx.

why dont you create a new link forum, then link this forum to the thread you want, then in this case u can disallow specific members from downloading, by the the forum permission.

I've searched "link forum" , but cannot find info on how to create one. Would anyone be so kind to point me in right direction?

I don't see how that would work anyway ??

You cannot control permissions on individual threads - you would need to have a forum with the permissions you require, and put the thread in that forum.

Make a new forum, while making a new forum, under the description u will find something called forum link, in this field u will put the url of the thread that u dont want certain user group to see, after that goto Forum Permissions that will be under Forums & Moderators, find that forum you've just created, under that choose which usergroup that u dont want them to downlod by clicking edit on the left side of the usergroup title, then find something called ( Can Download Attachments ) choose (NO). then a question appears saying that u will use Custom Permissions , click ok.

Thanks both of you. My problem has been solved with a simple "work-around". In the same forum, or in the same thread, or even in the same posting I am able to control which file is available to everyone, and which file is available to only registered members.

1) Everyone (even unregistered members) may download a file if the file is linked by a hyperlink, for example "download here"

2) But only registered members (if permission is set accordingly) will be able to download a file, if that file has been uploaded using the "Manage Attachments" feature.

This completelly achieves what I needed :)
