vBulletin Professional Installation

Hi,

I plan to Buy vBulletin before Christmas but I have a few querys that need to be answered?
  • Did you buy the vBulletin Professional Installation with your package of vBulletin?
  • If you didn't was it easy to install without the Professional Installation?
  • If you didn't how long did it take to setup?
  • If you did buy vB Professional Installation how long did it take to setup and was it worthit for the extra money?

I didn't buy professional installation, because I'm a techie. If you buy it, be sure to at least have someone in your forum team who knows how to handle server issues, or else anything you do you'll need Jelsoft. Also Jelsoft doesn't support forums that use mods from this site.

The level of difficulty to install vbulletin for new people who dont know alot about websites and a tiny bit of scripting i would say 6/10 as for techies it would be 0/10 to install very easy.

But if you are not too sure and feel uncomfortable in doing so, you can also buy the professional installation package. :)

You probably asked at the wrong site, seeing as this is all a modification site I think most of the posters here are seasoned vBulletin veterans who can probably install it in under 5 minutes! You might be better off asking at the main vBulletin forums ;)

If you can install programs on Windows, you can install vBulletin.

1. Make a mySQL database.
2. Collect the webhost/mySQL data (db location/name/password/full path to directory).
3. Add the data to the config.php file (rename config.php.new to config.php, too).
4. Upload it along with the whole upload directory.
5. Type in the install.php URL.
6. Click/fill in forum details/remove install.php when the script asks.
7. Login.

For someone new it might take you about 30 minutes to make a database; track down the info; upload the files; and complete the install.php script. Otherwise, it takes only about 5 minutes (including uploading the directory) to install vBulletin. Fairly automatic.

Most of our customers, including those who are not very familiar with running websites, install vBulletin themself as it is a fairly simple process.

The Professional Installation Service can be purchased at any time, so you can always first try yourself and if you really can not figure it out, even with assistence from our Support team, then you can always choose to order the installation service.
