How to Exclude 'New Threads' Created by a User if no Replies
Hi,
I searched the forums for an answer here, and while there where a few suggestions they didn't quite meet exactly what I am looking for, and I don't have the knowledge to make modifications to the suggestions provided to make it work the way I would like it to. So here goes, hopefully someone has a simple solution, or knows of a mod that will do this. I would like to exclude posts created by a certain user from appearing in the 'New Posts' area when there have been no replies. The reason, the user is our RSS Bot, or whatever you would like to call it. Since it posts news feeds from several different sites it makes looking at the 'new posts' page a bit annoying, and users have a hard time seeing the real replies past the new rss threads. Ideally, I would like to exclude these threads when there are no replies to them, but if there is a reply then I would like to include it. What I know so far: (it's not much) I know that you can create a link and have it exclude certain forums from the new posts results list, this would be OK, but it would not show new replies if there were any, so I haven't used this option. I know that I can exclude the forum from search indexing, but the posts still appear in 'new posts,' and I would like the threads to be indexed and searchable as well. So... any suggestions? Thanks. :o |
You must edit search.php.

I can do that, I suppose, but have no clue on what exactly to edit within the file.
