find forumid?

Hi, on an external page i connect to the post table and write out some posts and postid's, how do i find out in what forum the post is posted in? can i feed some info to "fetch_permissions($threadinfo['forumid']);" maybe and use global.php to find the forumid in some way?

I need your help! thanks!
