Help Please!!!

I upgraded my vbulletin the 3.6.8 this weekend and now many of my members have issues with the forum. When I look to see what they are doing online, I get where they are seeing things like "/forum/clientscript/vbulletin_read_marker.js?v=368". Please help!!!

Can not help you if you don't post what problems your memers have.

Calliope 10-16-2007 10:36 AM

The can not log in or out, any button they push just leads them back to the main forum page, etc. Not all members have this problem - about 1/3 of the members do.

To troubleshoot this, please remove any hacks and disable your plugins, then see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

If so, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

If your problem still exists, please create a new Style with no Parent set. Now browse the forum using this new style, do you still have the same problems? If you are troubleshooting login or guest issues, you will need to set this style as board default in the vBulletin Options.

yeah, i did those. another question, all these problems occurred when i upgraded to 3.6.8. Is there a way to reverse the upgrade and just go back to 3.6.5 that I had before?

Marco van Herwaarden 10-16-2007 11:19 AM

You should not have any problems if you followed all my advice.

Also are you running Suhosin (Hardened PHP) or mod_security on your server?
what is the memory_limit set to for your server?

And no, you can not easily downgrade.

i actually have a support ticket at vbulletin.com and they did those things too. all the plugins are now still currently disabled. i have reuploaded the files three times since last night, the problem occurs in a new style...

if i overwrite the files with the backup files i did just prior to upgrading, will i get my old 3.6.5 back? if so, i assume all threads and posts started since the upgrade would be lost, is that correct?

nexialys 10-16-2007 11:37 AM

actually, your problem is your style... not updated.

go to your admincp, create a new style without parent, and use that one for testing... if people continue to have problems, you may require professional support to debug your situation.

and as you said, if you use the old backup to 3.6.5 your new posts will vanish, logically

thanks nexialys, but a new style was still having the problems. what i did, however, is i got rid of all my styles and reinstalled an updated version of a preferred style and that seemed to work. i'm not sure why that worked but adding a new style did not? all the plugins are now working too.

thanks for ya'lls help!!
