I think the current ones are better visually. I suppose with images it's preference driven but the current ones (on a visual basis) looks better.

That surprises me. I'm gonna add a poll now because I'm curious.

It surprises me, but the reasoning behind my comment is that if you start applying a mixture of different images whether it's icons or any other graphics then it paves the way for inconsistency and nothing imo matches the vbulletin stock. maybe if you take a screenshot of the post icon area and erase the current crop of icons then paste a matching set then your suggestion may get a better reception. :)

Edit: The Idea icon looks nice.

Ah well visual consistency on thread icons and smilies doesn't matter to me at this point, or you'll miss using good ones, but I respect your opinion.

Marco van Herwaarden 10-15-2007 12:06 PM

As Shelly already mentioned, we would need to change the whole icon sets to keep consistency.

Also we try to keep our board easily recognisable as vBulletin, keeping most of the default style etc.. original. We do change our style as a showcase on what can be done with some (minor/functional) changes.

I can't believe you guys like the default thumbs :P

Anyway I understand Marco's point of using the default images vb has, this forum being a showcase for vb.

About visual consistency, I actually believe having different images help contrast ideas. If all smilies/icons are of the same set you risk them being too similar and hard to differentiate, but of course square and round face smilies wouldn't look good together.

from time to time, they change versions, but not image... :(
