Adding Icon/graphic to "Private Messages" text

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how I might go about inserting a small graphic (eg a jpg or gif file) to the left of the words "Private Messages" on the top right of the forum page?

I'd also like to add the same icon to the page that comes up for Private Messaging. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to do this I would really appreciate it.

Help anyone?
The image attached shows the section where I want to put the image, on the left of the screen showing the folder controls.
The other location is on the forum home page right up to the left of the wording "Private Messages".
