http://www.example.com/forum/install/upgrade.php

I changed address, login in and when I get to step #2 I get this:

Quote:

Step 2) Connect to the database

Attempting to attach to database

Error description: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) /homepages/40/d199984570/htdocs/forums/includes/class_core.php on line 274

Have you looked at your uploaded config.php file to verify you have the correct information entered?

eta: Login / password information that is....

The username/password/database may not be correct. You need to check they match the ones for your mysql database. (Maybe you made a typo or something but double check them with the ones in your hosts/mysql control panel).

This error means either:
1. The info in your config.php file is wrong (in which case your forums wouldn't work at all), or
2. MySQL crashed, it's not running or it can't find the socket. You need to contact your host about this. Here is more info on this error:

What do you mean with "I changed address"? You should not manually change the address when running upgrade.php.
