vb.org Archive - Question about quotes

I have two questions for coders who know their way around vb.

1) Can i mod the quote (single) function, without affecting the way the multiquote functions?
2) Can i make it so when a person makes a new reply by first pressing the quote button in the postbit of the person they want to reply to, is it possible to not actually have that text quoted in the reply box? If so, could anyone shed a little light on where i should be looking, or how to do it, because i have been trying for a while with no luck, and if possible i would rather do it without file edits.
