Can I check timezone when someone registers?

I have noticed that almost all the spammers registering on my board have a -12 in the timezone. I have a local community board so most new people are in my timezone. I'd like to check the timezone for -12 and not let that person register. I manually approve all registrations. Any idea how I might do this?

You could probably just use an anti-spam modification like Is Bot.

I'd really just like to check the timezone just before the database is written to and just skip writing the record. Everything would appear as normal except the database was never written to. Anyone? Thanks.

Use my mod (it was linked above) and change the phrase to the same as the registration complete one.
