Propercase Product ID

How do you get the product id to be capitol casing as it will only allow you to have lowercase leters and numbers as the ids?

I see the "Separate Sticky and Normal Threads" product is capitolized. How did they do that?

"Product ID: Separate"

Does it have anything to do with capitolizing it in the xml file manually before installing?

Why do you want it in uppercase?

RobDog888 09-28-2007 07:54 AM

No major reason. Just think it looks more readable when you have a product id that contains multiple sylabels.

MyNewProduct vs. mynewproduct :D

Uppercase letters are actually illegal according to the vBulletin Manual.

Product IDs are what they say :p

Think of them as ID numbers with letters...most of the time they aren't meant to be readable. I thought there was a product name field anyway?

<font color="darkgreen">Yes, uppercase characters are illegal which is why I wonder how the mod I linked to in my first post got their product id to be accepted as propercase?</font>

If you change the product ID in the XML file and then import it, it won't give you an error. I'll report this in the bug tracker. Bug report: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/proje...?issueid=23311

I reported it a while ago - allthough I'm not sure it will reject capital letters still.

According to that bug report, it's fixed in 3.6.8, but I just tried it and it accepts capital letters.

RobDog888 09-29-2007 05:43 AM

<font color="darkgreen">Well I assume there is good reason for not allowing uppercase characters so I will use lower. Just seeing it in the Separate productid on 3.6.8 made me question it.</font>
