Checking Forum ID from template postbit

I am interested in knowing the forum id from within the template postbit in order to create a conditional around the Edit Post button.

normal edit post button code here

but it seems my if condition isn't appreciated.

Alternatively is there a way to suppress or change the target of the edit post button on a per forum basis?
