Setting a Forum to Private

I'm creating a forum for one of my sponsors. She'll be in charge of granting access to this forum. I don't want unauthorized users to view the forum, but I want them to see this forum exists.

If I set "Can View Forum" to No, it won't be visible to the general visitor and no one will know it is there. If I set it to Yes, they'll be able to see it, but also enter and at least view the thread titles. I don't want this.

How can I set it to show the forum, but not allow entrance to unauthorized users?

- Thanks

Can View Forum > Yes
Can View Threads > No

What I want is for unauthorized users to see this forum's heading from the index page, but not be able to enter it and view active threads. If I set Can View Forum to Yes, unauthorized users will be able to enter and see this information.

So set the 'Can View Threads' permission to 'No'.

But then they won't even be able to see the forum exists. I want them to know it's there. But I don't want them to have access to enter.

From what I read in Options, disabling masks would do this. But it didn't work that way either.

Can View Forum > Yes
Can View Threads > No

They can view the forum but not the threads...

Thank you for all the help. But maybe I'm not explaining things right here. I don't even want them to view the forum. I want them to see it's there, but I don't want them inside. Kinda like a VIP section at a nightclub. Seeing it's there and knowing you can't get in just makes it that much more enticing.

With this setting:

Can View Forum > Yes
Can View Threads > No

This group can view the forum, but it says no threads exist for the last 30 days. How do I get thread titles to show?

I don't know if this can be achieved using the options that come stock.

I found out how...

Can View Forum > Yes
Can View Threads > No
Can View Other's Threads > Yes
