I know this has been brought up before, but I've been gone for a month and it appears as though there are a lot more vB hackers here now. So...

I would love to see a hack which allows a user to customize which forums they see in the main forum display page. They could go to a page where they could check off & on boxes next to they forums. Also, I would want to be able to have certain forums that show up no matter what and have new forums automatically added to their list.

This was something I used to dream of with UBB but knew to be impossible. It seems to me that using MySQL and either adding a field to the user table or creating a new table altogether which stores userid and the id's of the forums they want should take care of it.

Has anyone taken a swing at it?

This is a great idea, and actually a "must-have" feature for me. I have a board with over 80 different fourms, but most of my users might only be interested in viewing/posting in a dozen or so of them. Cal did a hack for this feature for the UBB, and creating one like it for vBulletin I would imagine wouldn't be difficult. For an example of what this looks like, take a look at http://www.progresstalk.com/

If I'm not mistaken, a hack similar to this was released a while ago.

Might be wrong...

Hi,

I d´like to do the "MyVBulletin"-Hack. I have allready planed to make it for my bulletin but then I can do it also for the hole vbulletin community *g*.

I can offer these features :

:myBulletin Page for logged in users
-> Shortcuts to the fav. forums of the user
-> Entrance to the PM
-> Links to the last 5 threads, where the has post a message
-> A list with 5 links which can be editet by the user
-> "Make this to your browsers homepage"-Function

:myBulletin Customizing Page
-> The user can modify the myBulletin Page after his own wishes (see the points above)

:Template
-> The layout of the myBulletin Page will be made with templates.

What do you think of this idea ?

We've got a pretty good start on this hack -- it seems to work -- see thread at http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1029
