Best way to embed my own video? How and what format?

Hello,

can anybody share experiences with embeding own video?

What is the best way for embeding video into my thread page and what do you think is the best format? wmv? mpg? flv?

What player do you suggest? ( I believe i have to somehow install flash player for flv...??? )
