Cut and Paste subforums
Sorry to ask another question so quick, but couldn't find the answer to this:
I'm going to have 50 categories (parent forums) and I'll have about 20 different subforums for each category but all 20 subforums will be the same for the 50 categories. Is there a hack or way to cut, copy and paste those into each category? Or if not, what .php file would I need to edit to do this? Any help would be appreciated :) |
There is no direct way to copy forums via the vBulletin Admin Panel...
Your best bet would be to create your subforums via phpMyAdmin (assuming you know how) and copy the queries used, then you can alter the parentid (not sure if this is the exact field name, I haven't looked) and just run the queries over again until you are done... Any way you do this, it's going to take some time to do :/ Chris |
there is a forum duplicator from an old guy here, i just don't remember if it works with 3.6.x
check and ask: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=83213 with Chris technique, you will have to Rebuild Counters, or your forums will not appear. EDIT: changed the url to the 3.5 version of the hack... works on 3.6 !!! (thanks to remember me the version Chris !!) |
That modification is for 3.0.x and is unlikely to function correctly for 3.6.x, however there may only be a few changes needed :)

Alright, guys. I'll look into both options. I wonder which would take longer... trying to program it or just typing it all by hand LOL! I'm a newbie, so code is kind of foreign to me.
Thanks again for everything! :) |
This duplicator works good on 3.6

Is it confirmed this works and if so, is there any sort of guide somewhere that describes how?
I am running 3.6.8 and I have my forums (www.mortgageadviceforums.com) broken down by the 50 states and D.C. Inside each of these state categories I have about 40 topical sub-forums. I have one sub-forum completely set up (Missouri) and I'd like to be able to copy each of these sub-forums into each state category. This will be a huge job if there isn't a plug-in or hack to do something like this. |
