How do you encourage donations?

I'm planning on launching another vBulletin forum and I'm wanting to encourage donations. We all know the license/renewal fees, webhost fees, domains and the costs of running website. I'm curious what other members of vB.org do to encourage people to donate?

I know some boards give donators special usergroup, exclusive forums, more avatar permissions, etc. What are some of the perks that the rest of you use?
