Was my big board the only one hammered by google in the last two weeks?

a month ago, I had 380,000 pages in the google index, and receiving upwards of 2000 clicks a day from google.

a month ago, I had 1300 pages in yahoo, and I was receiving 25-30 clicks a day from yahoo.

As of today, my google index is 56,000 and my yahoo indexed pages are upwards of 80,000.

I don't normally check yahoo, since it never really liked my site, but I check google on a almost daily basis. last week it dumped from 300,000ish to 120,000ish overnight. Then the last 5 days its dropped around 14,000 pages per day. My google clicks are down to only 300 a day now!

Right before this happened, I was being hammered by search engines. Sometimes 800-900 at a time. For some reason Yahoo became my friend, but more importantly, I lost the huge backing of google! This is going to cost me a hundred bucks a day in revenue :(

Anybody else having this issue?

I am starting to think Google purges old forum threads after a period of time. I had 200k+ listed and after the next update it was down to 70k. None of my older threads were listed any longer. It was like every thread older than a year was gone. Yahoo on the other hand had them all and just kept adding the new with the old.

I agree - I think they purge quite regularly. I can never figure it out so I don't bother trying and we've used other means to drive traffic to the site and try not to rely on the popular search engines and all their voodoo!

Or if there's not new backlinks (incoming links) to the forum. If google doesn't see any fresh links, then why should they keep coming back?
