Running Costs
 
For those with big boards how much do you spend a month on content/advertising? if any. and how much did you spend on on building/designing the forum at first?

Do you think your initial investment was worth it and are you making enough profit to live on?

Content is free on our board. We have a very active user base who populates the board. As to advertising, in 14 months, we've only spent $250 and then if you count buying VBSEO, then a bit more for buying the SEO software. The rest of our advertising has been organic, word of mouth type stuff.

We have about $3K into forum, software programs, and design work, with another $1500 this month going out. But in 12 months, and even with lots of server upgrades, we were profitable and covering costs.
