Sticky Post (like the mods feature here at vb.org)
 

Our club has a need for a way to display a sticky post on top of the discusssion (on every page) just like is shown here when a mode is available.

What we want is for the top post to be editable by users, however.

The purpose: The top post is going to display trail conditions for our bike trails. This would be a quick-view of the trail status, with further discussion below. The top post would have a format too it, like showing the date reported, user reporting, condition (i.e. wet, dry, closed, etc.)

I saw a hack here that does a top post but I don't think it is something that just any users can edit.

What does vbulletin.org use for their mods post? It always shows up at the top of each page, and it has a comment section that follows, then the general thread discussion. I could probably use that same software in some way.
