Troll has endless list of IP's ??
 

We got a banned member (troll) now posting every hour with a different IP address after the last is banned. It can't be a proxy because we have a plugin to prevent it. How does he do this? Can we do something about it?

It can be a proxy, not all proxies expose the fact that they're proxies. For the rest there are things like Tor and of course botnets.
IP banning is useless.
Besides, how can a banned member still post?

I mean he registers a new account with a new ip.

The proxy detector doesn't recognize it. Also it's a different host name with every account. It's the first time we got this, most of the time IP banning works good in combination with the proxy detector.

If this guy uses a single PC to do hiw work, then Miserable users might help blocking him.

That is provided he is too dumb to clear his cookies...

He's a real pain in the ass to get rid off too :(

just approve new registrations for a while and problem will be solved.

Trust me if you have 50 new reg./day and a business to work on you don't want that. Besides he knows we do that temporary and he just keeps on coming back. He is a troll at our board for 4 years now, he was allowed to post again for a while but it's nothing but problems after a while. And now he's banned again and just wont leave. He has NO life and has nothing better to do than this.

I'm going to ban hotmail now because he uses that often, just to make it a little harder, but of course there are plenty other free mail services.

I'm curious about this as well, I don't have a member like this yet but this is one of the nightmare scenarios that I often think about, I am very concerned about members like this in the future and want to ease my mind about it.

If you can get his real IP, contact his ISP sometimes can resolve issues.
