Is there a mod that tracks what state members are from?

i see the world map hack out there, but i was looking for a way to allow users to enter their state on registration and being able to track # of members by state.. Should i just add a custom 'State' field or is there a hack out there that does that?

I'm sure the "State" field would be the best route.
