Using vBulletin with Registration Database

I am thinking of buying vBulletin but I am concerned about how vBulletin will be integrated into our system. Currently, I have a sign up (registration) page on my website that collects customer information and puts it into a database. When a customer signs up, I would like the customer to have immediate access to the vBulletin forums. I don't want the customer to sign up twice (one for our website and the other for vBulletin).

Is it possible to modify my sign up page to use vBulletin? If so, can you please tell me what it will take to make this happen (don't need details yet... just a summary of what's involved)?

Do you want to use vBulletin's database, or your own database? You will have to weigh up which one is more logical.

Can I use both databases? Can I modify the form so that when the customer clicks on the "Submit" button, it will write the information into both databases? All vBulletin info goes into the vBulletin database and all customer info (i.e. name, address, phone, etc...) goes into our database.

If your registration process is written in PHP, then it would be not too difficult to add also an automated vBulletin registration together with your customer registration. Minimum information needed would be a username, email address and password.

One more question... so then I'm going to assume vBulletin was written using PHP... is it possible to use ASP instead of PHP?

No vBulletin needs PHP.

But you can have both ASP and PHP running on 1 server.
