how to installed firewall on a server?

i tried tht webhostgear site already

but when i type

tar -xvzf apf-current.tar.gz

i am getting an error like

tar: apf-current.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

did you run the previous steps ? i.e. did you run

wget http://www.rfxnetworks.com/downloads/apf-current.tar.gz

before running tar ?

i got it

now im on the 4th steps
4. cd apf-0.9.5-1/ or whatever the latest version is.

when i type this im getting

-bash: cd: apf-0.9.5-1/: No such file or directory

in the dir you are, type in ls -l for a dir listing, look for folder apf-XXX and when you see it, type it in exactly like that

cd (whatever the name of the dir you see)

remember its case-sensitive so type in the right case

EDIT - if you have WHM/CPanel, config-server firewall maybe an easier option since it has a very good web interface.
