Huge Redesign and Expansion of vB Functionality

On vB since the first pre beta product, BigSoccer is one of the largest vB communities on the net and the leading Soccer site in North America. With over 100,000 registered users, we served 820,000 uniques last month and nearly 20mm pages viewed.

Last night we launched a complete revamp of BigSoccer. Not only do we have what we consider to be a hot new skin, but we have integrated a bunch of extended functionality into vB that we think people on this board will love. Features such as a customized home page the remembers your preferred navigation state, "digg"ing of threads and external news, and more.

The entire site is built on the vB platform, including the dynamic homepage, and makes extensive use of javascript and ajax (but smart use!). Once you learn how to use it our homepage is essentially a highly functional alt view of FORUMDISPLAY.

BTW - we may be up and down a bit this weekend as we tweak servers. But never moer then 10-20 minutes.:confused:

I think your stats are wrong - 259 members and 0 guests. I was a guest so that's at least 1. As for the design I like the simplicity, but maybe you could replace the standard VB icons with some nice footballs or something.

From a visual perspective, I think it looks incomplete. Don't get me wrong, I like the way this design is shaping up but I was waiting for the rest of the images to load when infact all of them were loaded if that is making any sense.

In short, it looks like more needs to be added and removing the default forum status markers because blue doesn't match your current colour theme.

Thread markers should be repplaced for custom variations imo but I guess this is down to preference.

I like your logo and how the images within the logo are placed. Very inviting. Good work with adding the login/register & search feature into the logo. Nicely place and integrated perfectly.

Layout looks promising, and the simplicity makes it easy to navigate. What killed the experience for me was the many default vB icons still being used. Other than that, it seems very well done.

we're working on the default icons, tho i'm surprised that could KILL an experience! i'm really more keen on feedbacvk on the hacks and fucntionality we built into vb and vbadvanced.

but i'll work on the icons! :)

More than anything I like your showthread/postbit template. Giving the posts a bigger font makes everything so much easier to read. I may steal that. :)

I'm definitely a big fan of making things more simple. Good job.
