I know a vbulletin board with over 5,000 online users, every day.
I cannot disclose the link, since it was requested by my customer.

If you look at his online users:
http://forums.techguy.org/online.php

You see 163 members and 0 guests... so who knows. :)

for what its worth, his cookie timeout appears to be 30 minutes instead of the usual 15 minutes. So that will inflate the numbers.

Some of my "competitors" have seriously set their cookie timeout to 24 hours or something insane like that. Members can tell what boards have more activity. However just to clarify I put "in the last 15 minutes" after it says how many users and guests are online.

seems its either spiders - or fake stats

talkvb 08-01-2007 05:52 PM

Seems like it could be real enough... but I would check the cookies like Devil said.

Techguy is my friend Mike's board. I promise you his stats are real. He probably has guest viewing disabled on the who's online page because the overhead was too much to list so many guests.

TechGuy is a great forum.

rossco_2005 08-11-2007 07:42 PM

That site has their timeout set to 30 mins as far as i can tell.
Look at online.php, it shows when they were last active, most i saw was '29 minutes'.
