How to translate hacks?

I'd like to know how to translate hacks in french please.
Do i need a special software or do i have to edit .xml files and php files (when there is some) if it works like that, what do i have to translate and not translate?

XML and PHP?? how do i know that what i want to translate is not wrote in english because part of the code?

faut chercher... au pire t'es pas le seul à chercher sa traduction...
