Bellsouth problems
We have a large board with >15,000 registered users and a smaller board with ~5,000 users. We have a dedicated server and can send email from the CPanel email system to Bellsouth customers with no problems.
Any email sent by the vB forums to Bellsouth is bounced with this error message: SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<XXXXXremoved@bellsouth.net>: host gateway-f1.isp.att.net [204.127.217.16]: 550 [PERMFAIL] bellsouth.net requires valid sender domain {need mx} We have an MX setup and am at a loss as to what is creating the problems.....HELP! ...Dwight... |
The problem was with Bellsouth modifying headers in messages sent using a method other than SMTP. Mail from my clients (I write scripts using the php mail() function) began arriving at bellsouth accounts again yesterday evening.

We also added mx record for a subdomain yesterday morning, and have had no bounced emails since 9:50 AM 2 Aug....phew! :erm:
Thanks, ...Dwight... |
