Forum Size

Hi, I am having a problem with my forum and no matter what I have tried so far I can't seem to solve the problem, my page size is way over average it's at the moment at 90kb, and I can't for the life of me work out why.

my website is www.share-central.org

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have you got GZIP enabled?

Devil Woman 07-06-2007 05:51 PM

I'm not sure, where would I find that in VB options?

Thanks

I have found it I am assuming it's this option I need

GZIP HTML Output

This is enabled, could this be what is causing my problem?

I doubt it, but turn it off, depending on the apache install, its prolly not needed anyways.

OK, I will try it see what happens will affect my forum at all in any way if I do turn it off or is it safe to turn it off?

Thanks

I have tried turning GZIP off makes a small difference but not a major difference, still over 90kb it's even big on threads aswell as the main index page

This is a thread posted by a member on my site with the problem he gets when viewing on his phone

Remember what I was saying about page size for my phone? Well I've had a look and just the text for this page is 99KB whereas other vbulletin forums were only about 30KB, less than 1 third. I noticed that you have the whole of the css file, plus javascript actually in the file instead of attached and linked to. This could be some of the problem. I think it could also bring down your bandwidth usage if it were preened a bit.
Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Hi, I have recently done some work on the site to try and bring the size down a bit and I have managed now to bring it down to just 71KB but I am still way over now the biggest thing seems to be my homepage www.share-central.org this is 67.88Kb

Now I have taken a look at things I feel could be the problem however don't seem to be able to see what the problem is and why the homepage is such a big size

Any help is greatly appreciated.
