Auto links to member profiles in threads
 

Hi,

I have searched for this and know that it has been asked before (but not answered) so I thought I would give it another shot.

Since any community works best when interaction between members is easiest, I would very much like a Mod that would create links to users profiles when their names where typed in threads and posts.

Kinda like an automatic replacement variable system detecting the members name and creating a link I guess.

Very handy for moderation and also for general communication between members because there is no time when you read someones name when it wouldnt be useful to be able to find out more about them / contact them.


Anyone agree this might be useful?

Anyone godlike enough to do it? :)

Pretty simple to do - you'd just add a hook into the 'new post' function to regex the post contents against your username and create appropriate links. Could potentially be time consuming for those of us with big memberships tho.
