vb.org Archive - custom headers?

I've done a few custom skins for my board using 3.6.7 now, and I'm pretty familiar with the basics. The skins I've done though are still "basic" looking.

What I'm looking for is any help or information on how to make a custom header similar to what this one has:

I like the way the links are set up in the header, and the flash images are pretty cool, but I'd like to make one a little differently.

Can anyone give me some information, or maybe even tutorials that are out there, on how to do this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :D
